Museum of Jewish Culture - Trnava
The Status Quo Ante synagogue was built in 1891 and designed by Viennese architect Jakub Gartner. The building with its pronounced two-tower façade is used as a modern art gallery after partially being reconstructed. After World War II a Holocaust memorial was erected in front of the synagogue, designed by architect Artur Szalatnai-Slatinský. The Judaica exhibition of the Museum of Jewish Culture is installed in the women’s gallery. The current synagogue owner, The Gallery of Ján Koniarek, curates experimental modern art shows matching the inspiring synagogue interior.
